German and Portuguese MA (Hons)

This flexible joint honours programme gives you the opportunity to study two different European languages in their diverse cultural contexts. <br/><br/>With a long history of cultural achievement, migration and diaspora, German and Portuguese are your gateway to a great many countries and cultures in Europe, South America and Africa. <br/><br/>Most of our graduates started as complete beginners in Portuguese. Through intensive language study, including a year abroad, you will have the opportunity to acquire the same level of spoken and written Portuguese as you gain in German, which you can start at beginner or more advanced level. <br/><br/>In addition to your language classes, you will explore aspects of German-language and Portuguese-speaking (Lusophone) cultures. You will specialise as you progress through your honours years, choosing from a range of courses that match your own interests, expertise and employability needs. <br/><br/>When you graduate, you will have the combination of a broad cultural education in the arts and humanities, and specialist knowledge of two widely-used languages, valued by employers worldwide.
