Spanish is the official language in 20 countries and is widely spoken in four more territories, including the United States. As well as having over 400 million native speakers, it is spoken as a second language by around nine million people, globally, making it an excellent partner subject to Business.

Our wide-ranging courses are taught by leading experts in their field.<br/><br/>You will receive intensive language training, giving you the opportunity to develop advanced spoken and written skills in the Spanish language. You will also learn how to discern different varieties and registers of the language and gain intercultural awareness.<br/><br/>You will be invited to explore the diverse and rich cultures of Spain, Latin America and the Caribbean through an extraordinary range of literature, film, poetry and theatre, studied in its historical context.<br/><br/><strong>Business</strong><br/><br/>Studying business will prepare you for the social, political, environmental and cultural challenges facing contemporary businesses, governments and not-for-profit organisations.<br/><br/>Taught by world-leading industry professionals and researchers, you will develop personal and professional competencies, such as:<br/><br/><br/>* authentic leadership<br/><br/><br/>* ethical, responsible, sustainable business behaviour<br/><br/><br/>* entrepreneurial practice<br/><br/><br/>* effective communication<br/><br/><br/>The Business School Student Development team will also provide opportunities for you to develop a range of essential business graduate competencies. Developing these will enable you to work across a range of roles in contemporary business including:<br/><br/><br/>* finance<br/><br/><br/>* strategy<br/><br/><br/>* innovation<br/><br/><br/>* marketing<br/><br/><br/>* human resource management<br/><br/><br/>* data analytics<br/><br/><br/>* entrepreneurship<br/><br/><br/><strong>Business or International Business?</strong><br/><br/>This programme is a more wide-ranging alternative to the International Business with Spanish programme. Alongside courses in local and global business, you will study Spanish and associated cultures over the full four years, and be able to take more option courses in Years 1 and 2.<br/><br/>During your Year Abroad in Year 3, you will complete an independent piece of research on a contemporary business issue relating to the country in which you are studying or working.<br/><br/>In Year 4, in addition to Spanish language and cultural study, you will choose three honours-level courses from options on different aspects of business.<br/><br/>When you graduate, you will have the combination of broad cultural education and specialist business and language skills valued by employers worldwide.<br/><br/><strong>How long it takes to complete this degree programme</strong><br/><br/>This programme is studied over 4 years, including a year abroad. This enables us to build choice and flexibility into your studies, giving you time to explore options, find what you like and build your skills.<br/><br/>Your first two years will be your pre-honours years. They will give you a good grounding in your subjects. In addition to studying core courses, you will broaden your education and skill set by choosing option courses from a range of subjects and disciplines. This may enable you to change the focus of your programme.<br/><br/>Your final two years will be your honours years. You will spend Year 3 abroad, immersing yourself in Spanish-speaking cultures.
