Our programmes are based on cutting edge research, a strong international outlook and focus on the real needs of industry and the public sector.<br/><br/>BSc Accounting and Finance will help you understand modern practice and how to apply classroom theory confidently to the business world.<br/><br/>This highly accredited course can give you an advantage in a range of careers including accountancy, investment banking, asset management and insurance. Our graduates have gone on to work in a range of organisations including Deloitte, EY, Grant Thornton, KPMG, NHS and the public sector.<br/><br/>Learn in a supportive and friendly academic environment. This programme is taught by qualified accountants, who will help you to connect academic theory to industry through their professional networks, guest speakers, field trips and using real world case studies in teaching.<br/><br/>You will explore core study themes and specialist areas through optional modules, including auditing, taxation and strategy to a level equivalent to the ICAEW professional stage. Cover the major developments in sustainability, which is a huge area of growth in employment for future finance professionals.<br/><br/>This programme has been designed to ensure that our graduates can apply for the maximum number of exemptions from professional accounting qualifications upon completing their degree studies. This means that many of our modules, including all those taken in year one are compulsory.<br/><br/>Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales (ICAEW):<br/><br/>As an ICAEW Strategic Degree, graduates of our programme are eligible for the maximum of 12 exemptions from the ACA qualification, awarded by ICAEW.<br/><br/>Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA):<br/><br/>Maximum 11 exemptions available.<br/><br/>Further accreditations: • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)• Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA)• Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland (ICAS)<br/><br/>In third year, you will complete a year-long graduate-level placement, providing valuable work experience and an opportunity to further enhance the skills and attributes sought after by top employers.<br/><br/>You can apply for placements with a large organisation or smaller company. You will be supported by university staff whilst on placement and complete related assessments in May.<br/><br/>We also have study abroad opportunities that you can apply for, including a summer or semester abroad.
