You will learn how to use the science of agriculture to sustainably tackle global challenges, such as how to feed a growing population.<br/><br/>You will be taught by subject specialists and researchers. This means you will gain knowledge of the most rapidly developing areas of agriculture. You will benefit from a range of modules to develop your practical skills and experience across agricultural sectors.<br/><br/>The scientific and practical skills youll learn on this course will prepare you for a career in agriculture. We have strong links with industry which can help improve your employability. This includes the opportunity to work on a placement, visit external farms, and be exposed to commercial organisations.<br/><br/>Sutton Bonington Campus is home to the University Farm and Dairy Centre. The farm is commercially run, with facilities for research and teaching. Both through the University Farm and visits to external farms.<br/><br/><br/>+ You can gain real experience<br/><br/><br/>+ Grow, manage, and market your own crop or help manage different livestock species.<br/><br/><br/>+ Optional Year in Industry available, this occurs between years 2 and 3.<br/><br/><br/>+ You will learn in a range of settings from teaching and research specialists with expertise across the agricultural business sector.<br/><br/><br/><strong>Study abroad</strong><br/>On many of our Faculty of Science courses, you get the chance to spend a semester or an academic year at one of our partner universities across the world. Read what its like to study abroad and how it can open new doors for adventures, connections and opportunities.<br/><br/>There are a number of options to apply to study abroad on this course. Experience living and learning in a different culture and gain a global perspective of agriculture.<br/><br/><strong>Year in industry</strong><br/>Full support provided in finding a suitable placement, and is a great opportunity to engage in industry while in a supported setting.<br/><br/>We have good links with companies, and our dedicated placement team is available to support you in finding the right placement. This qualification will be considered where appropriate science content is being studied. The requirement is 60 credits overall with 45 graded credits at Level 3. 21 credits must be achieved at Distinction; 18 credits at Merit and 6 at Pass. 15 graded level 3 credits must be achieved at minimum Merit from acceptable science units.
