Topics you will study include: <br/><br/><br/>- Biomechanics analysis of movement<br/><br/><br/>- Fundamentals of exercise physiology<br/><br/><br/>- Sports injury examination and assessment<br/><br/><br/>- Exercise therapy<br/><br/><br/>- Sports massage<br/><br/><br/>- Advanced trauma management<br/><br/><br/>**Skills:** <br/><br/>This programme is aimed at students wanting to become Sports Therapists. A Sports Therapist, who is a Member of The Society of Sports Therapists, is an Allied Health Professional who has the knowledge, skills and ability to:<br/><br/><br/>- Utilise sports and exercise principles to optimise performance, preparation and injury prevention programmes<br/><br/><br/>- Provide the immediate care of injuries and basic life support in a recreational, training, occupational & competitive environment<br/><br/><br/>- Assess, treat, rehabilitate and, where and if appropriate, refer on for specialist advice and intervention<br/><br/><br/>- Provide appropriate soft tissue interventions in a sport & exercise context<br/><br/><br/>- Plan and implement appropriate rehabilitation and return to training/work programmes<br/><br/><br/>**Career Opportunities:** <br/><br/>The course is vocational in nature. By the end of the degree, students will qualify to apply to become chartered Sports Therapists, accredited by The Society of Sports Therapists. Sports therapists find work in a variety of different ways including employment for sports clubs and teams, employment for private health clinics, work as NHS rehabilitation assistants, jobs in sports development, sport and leisure management, and private therapists. Starting salaries in private clinics and the NHS can be more than £20,000. If working for themselves, a sports therapist may charge up to £55 per hour. <br/><br/>Graduates may also choose to pursue further training that would enable them to take on other roles in Allied Health and/or Sports Sciences, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, sport scientist, and academia.
