This degree will give you a deeper understanding of the crucial relationship between language, culture and society, both within Europe and beyond. Explore the realms of poetry, prose, theatre and film in English and other languages, whilst at the same time learning and applying practical skills in your study of either one or two modern foreign languages.<br/><br/>**Cultivate your understanding of the intimate relationship between language and culture, and how it shapes the literature – and the lives – of modern European societies.**<br/><br/>As a dual honours student, youll divide your studies between the School of English and the School of Languages and Cultures. Delving into the history, literature and culture of your chosen countries, you’ll see how the fabric of those societies is woven by the literary arts.<br/><br/>This is a degree that allows you to pursue and develop your own interests. Choose from a variety of modules as diverse as animal studies, the history of the Gothic, American literature and the analysis of film. Engage with diverse texts from all over the world, both in English and in translation.
