The flexible structure of our degree programme means that you will choose from an extensive range of option modules that allow you to really focus on the aspects of history that interest you most.<br/><br/>**Through historical and sociological analysis, understand past societies and patterns of social change - and develop your ideas about how we can navigate the present and anticipate behaviours of the future.**<br/><br/>Explore human experience and behaviour across time and place, from 1000 BCE to the 21st century, through themes such as crime and deviance, religion and belief, race and racism, and surveillance.<br/><br/>If you have an interest in people - how they interact with one another, cultural differences, human motivations - then the combination of history and sociology is for you.<br/><br/>Learning both historical and sociological research techniques, you’ll develop the theoretical frameworks and methodological tools you need to be critical of accepted opinions and to construct effective arguments.<br/><br/>Graduating with a complex and practical understanding of the world we live in, you’ll have the skills for a meaningful career in a multitude of fields.<br/><br/>**Why study this course?**<br/>- **Become fluent in the human experience** - to truly understand today’s society, we must reflect on events and behaviours of the past.
