Follow this four year programme and you gain an English law degree while specialising in Chinese law - a distinctive area that makes you highly employable.<br/><br/>**Gain a critical understanding of the Common Law of England and Wales whilst specialising in Chinese law, giving you skills sought after by employers.**<br/><br/>Through this course you’ll learn about Chinese law, culture and business. Youll learn how to advise clients, resolve disputes and conduct legal transactions.<br/><br/>You dont need to speak or have studied Mandarin before you start, as youll be introduced to this in your first year.<br/><br/>In your first year, you’ll study the foundations of legal knowledge, giving you a strong grounding in the key areas of English law as well as gaining an introduction to comparative law. You’ll also learn basic Mandarin language skills in listening, reading, speaking and writing.<br/><br/>You’ll focus on the Chinese legal system and political culture of China in your second year, which will prepare you for more in-depth study of Chinese law subjects in your year abroad.<br/><br/>In your third year you’ll study Chinese law in English at one of our partner universities in China, before returning to Sheffield in your final year where you can build your degree around your passions and career aspirations – choosing from modules like International Trade Law, Immigration & Asylum Law and Policing in a Global Context.<br/><br/>The spine of this degree is the Core Legal and Study Skills module, which runs throughout your studies at Sheffield and introduces you to mooting, employability workshops and study skills sessions. Because we want you to build confidence in these areas, this module isn’t part of your final grade.<br/><br/>Alongside your studies you can gain real-world experience right here, with our various pro bono schemes. Whatever way you customise this degree, you’ll ultimately graduate with the skills for a future career in law, and particularly those required by global law firms and companies with clients or bases in China.<br/><br/>**Why study this course?**<br/>- **Study abroad in China** - further develop your knowledge of the Chinese legal system in your year abroad in China, where you’ll study in English in your third year.<br/><br/><br/>- **Foundation for your career** - if you plan to be a barrister, our LLB degrees satisfy the foundations of legal knowledge set by the Bar Standards Board. If you plan to be a solicitor, you can also complete your Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) with the University of Law, right here.
