Law (with Spanish Law) LLB (Hons)

This four-year law course provides an English law degree together with a detailed understanding of the legal and political structure of Spain and provides you with expertise in Spanish law.<br/><br/>**Gain a critical understanding of the Common Law of England and Wales, together with expertise of the legal and political structure of Spain and Spanish-speaking countries, in the context of a bilingual English-Spanish degree.**<br/><br/>Through this course you’ll combine the study of English common law and the study of the law of Spain and Spanish-speaking countries, with the support of our expert academic staff.<br/><br/>In your first year, you’ll study the foundations of legal knowledge, giving you a strong grounding in the key areas of English law as well as gaining an introduction to comparative law.<br/><br/>You’ll also study the Spanish legal language, providing you with vital legal terminology and improving both your spoken and written Spanish, preparing you for advanced study and your year abroad in Spain.<br/><br/>You’ll focus on the Spanish legal system and political culture of Spain and the Spanish-speaking world, including Latin America, in your second year, giving you an insight into the differences between the practice of law in different jurisdictions.<br/><br/>In your third year you’ll study in Spanish at one of our partner universities in Spain, before returning to Sheffield in your final year where you can build your degree around your passions and career aspirations – choosing from modules like International Trade Law, Immigration & Asylum Law and Policing in a Global Context.<br/><br/>The spine of this degree is the Core Legal and Study Skills module, which runs throughout your studies at Sheffield and introduces you to mooting, employability workshops and study skills sessions. Because we want you to build confidence in these areas, this module isn’t part of your final grade.<br/><br/>Alongside your studies you can gain real-world experience right here, with our various pro bono schemes.<br/><br/>Whatever way you customise this degree, you’ll ultimately graduate with the knowledge and skills you need to start your career.<br/><br/>**Why study this course?**<br/>- **Study abroad in Spain** - further develop both your legal knowledge and language skills through your year abroad in Spain in your third year.<br/><br/><br/>- **Foundation for your career** - if you plan to be a barrister, our LLB degrees satisfy the foundations of legal knowledge set by the Bar Standards Board.
