The LLB Law and Legal Practice (SQE) degree is an exciting yet demanding course. It provides a fantastic opportunity for you to gain a law degree and preparation for the SQE1 exam, which is required to become a solicitor, over three years instead of the usual four.<br/><br/>Available to study part-time or full-time, the programme covers all of the foundation subjects required by the Bar Standards Board and the Solicitors Regulations Authority for the purposes of professional qualification as a barrister or solicitor in England and Wales.<br/>Employability is at the heart of everything we do. As part of the degree, you will volunteer in our award-wining Legal Advice Clinic, which provides opportunities to gain experience and skills that are vital to professional practice. In addition to this, we have strong connections with industry and host a range of guest speakers who are experts in their field.<br/><br/>Outside the classroom, you can become part of our thriving USW Student Law Society and get involved in a range of social and networking activities. The Society supports students with mooting in Year 1. You can also get involved in competitions such as mooting and client interviewing.<br/><br/>Graduates of the LLB Law and Legal Practice (SQE) programme will typically progress to professional practice as follows:<br/>· Paralegal / Legal Assistant<br/>· Solicitor: SQE1, SQE2 and Qualifying Work Experience<br/>· Barrister: Bar Training Course, Pupillage/work-based component<br/><br/>Some students will progress to postgraduate academic study such as LLM and PGCE. Others will progress directly to graduate careers as the skills they will develop through the course are transferable.
