French and History BA (Hons)

<br/>- Focus on professional language skills and contemporary culture.<br/><br/><br/>- Study abroad with our partners in Paris, Dijon and Angers.<br/><br/><br/>- Honours students spend a year abroad after Year 3, usually working as an English-speaking teaching assistant, gaining experience on a work placement, or studying at a foreign institution. <br/><br/><br/>- Spend up to two years abroad – one on exchange to a partner university and one as an English-language assistant in a French School.<br/><br/><br/>- Stevenson Exchange Scholarship – a competitive award with funding towards a project undertaken while abroad.<br/><br/><br/>- French can also be studied within the LLB Honours Law with a Modern Language.<br/><br/><br/>- The chance to become a fluent linguist, while developing your knowledge of the past and gives you a better understanding of the present. <br/><br/><br/>- Receive excellent training in areas such as problem-solving, communication, research methods and interpretation.<br/><br/><br/>Ranked Top 10 in Scotland for French (Complete University Guide 2024); Ranked 2nd in Scotland for History (The Times/Sunday Times University Ranking 2024). <br/><br/>This course is part of our flexible BA Humanities and Social Science Degree programme. With our BA (Honours) degree you can choose from subjects in Humanities, Social Sciences and Business, with two of your three subject choices taught by the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences. <br/><br/>The BA degree is a three year course and the Honours degree is normally a four year course. This allows you to try new subjects, develop your own ideas, develop a broad range of knowledge and enhance your employability. <br/><br/>You should only enter one of the UCAS codes on your application form. Acceptance on one of these subject codes will enable you to study any combination of subjects. Only one application will be considered.
