Overview<br/><br/>Prepare for a rewarding career as a professional midwife with UWS’s BSc Midwifery programme. <br/><br/>This programme will give you the knowledge, skills, practical experience and confidence to become a professional midwife. As teaching on this programme is 50% work-based learning, you’ll be able to put the theory you learn in the classroom into practice in real-life clinical environments.<br/><br/>This innovative and contemporary Midwifery programme offers you the chance to be part of this dynamic workforce as an accountable and lead practitioner working with and supporting women throughout their pregnancy and childbirth experience.<br/><br/>Programme highlights<br/><br/>• Upon graduation, you’ll achieve registration as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).<br/>• This programme carries UNICEF’s UK Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation for ensuring midwifery students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to advise and support breastfeeding mothers.<br/>• UWS’s Lanarkshire Campus is equipped with state-of-the-art midwifery skills and simulation facilities, including a birthing room with a maternal simulator.<br/><br/>Programme details<br/><br/>Work-based learning makes up 50% of the BSc Midwifery programme and you’ll spend time on placement with local healthcare partners:<br/><br/>• NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde<br/>• NHS Highland<br/>• NHS Lanarkshire<br/>• NHS Dumfries & Galloway<br/>• NHS Golden Jubilee<br/><br/>Careers<br/><br/>This programme will prepare you for a successful career in Midwifery.
