History and War Studies with Foundation Year BA (Hons)

<strong>This is a 4 year degree course. Please ensure that when you apply for this course you choose Point of entry 1 in your UCAS Hub.</strong><br/><br/>The History and War Studies course provides graduates with the knowledge of the issues, themes, debates and developments related to the analysis of history and war. Our graduates are equipped to develop and sustain debates on the strategic, ethical and philosophical uses of war as well as understanding the full historical contexts within which conflict arises. Alongside subject-specific knowledge, you will develop a wide range of key transferable skills including enhanced communication, analytical and technological proficiency. The degree encourages you to become digitally literate and intellectually curious, with the capacity to work both independently and as part of a wider team to understand, develop and apply solutions to both theoretical and practical problems. These skills equip our graduates to use their knowledge in enterprising and profitable ways in their chosen careers and develop their roles within the wider community.<br/><br/>The foundation year of this course is designed to offer applicants who do not have the required qualifications, a programme which will equip them with a robust toolkit of academic, digital and personal skills required for successful study in higher education. It also provides an understanding of, and insight into, a range of disciplines that underpin their chosen programme of study. In the foundation year students will develop their ability to gain the most out of structured in-class study, and also to manage and evaluate their own independent learning. This wide range of transferable skills is of immense value in both undergraduate study and graduate employment. Upon successful completion of the foundation year, students will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of their subject area to degree level.
