**IS THIS COURSE FOR ME?**<br/>Are you passionate about working with animals and ready to turn that into a career?<br/>Whether youre aiming to manage a wildlife centre, work in animal welfare, or pursue a specialist role in conservation, research, or animal care — this course is for you.<br/>You’ll explore a wide range of topics across animal health, welfare, biology, business, and scientific research. This hands-on qualification gives you the practical experience and confidence to work in real-world settings — from kennels and rescue centres to zoos and labs.<br/>It’s ideal for students progressing from a Level 3 qualification in animal care or related sciences, or for those already working in the sector and looking to move up.<br/>You’ll learn how to handle animals safely, understand their needs, and make evidence-based decisions that support health, welfare and sustainable management — all while gaining experience in real workplace environments.<br/><br/>**WHAT CAN I PROGRESS ONTO?**<br/>Once you’ve completed your HNC, you can:<br/>• Progress directly to the HND in Animal Management (Year 2) — deepening your skills, leading your own research, and preparing for higher-level careers<br/>• Apply for entry-level roles in the animal care sector, such as animal technician, zoo or wildlife assistant, or animal welfare officer<br/>• Work in a wide range of environments — from kennels and rescue centres to education, conservation, and environmental charities<br/>The HNC gives you the solid foundation — and the hands-on experience — to go further, whether that’s straight into the workplace or continuing your education.<br/>**OTHER INFORMATION**<br/>At our Leigh College campus, youll benefit from a newly expanded, industry-standard Animal Management Centre designed to simulate real-world settings. This purpose-built facility includes:<br/>• A scenario-based learning environment with spaces dedicated to animal boarding, veterinary care, a pet shop, and an aquatics centre. <br/>• Multi-modal classrooms that integrate practical and theoretical learning, preparing you for diverse roles in the animal care industry. <br/>Our animal management classrooms are home to over 20 different species of reptiles and rodents, providing hands-on experience in caring for and managing a variety of animals. <br/>Youll be taught by a dedicated team of lecturers and technicians with real-world experience in animal care, veterinary nursing, conservation, and zoology. Their expertise ensures that your learning is grounded in current industry practices.
