What is a healthy lifestyle?

A healthy lifestyle is more than just eating salads and fruit; living a healthy lifestyle is also about constant exercise and, most importantly of all, keeping your mental health in check too.

A healthy lifestyle is important because healthy lifestyle foods keep you energised, keep you able to perform to the best of your abilities and will help your mental health.

Eating healthily

Nutritious food will fuel your body and mind and will help you to perform better in your studies and should be the first thing to consider when looking into how to start a healthy lifestyle. That doesn’t mean you can still eat pizza, chips, noodles or doughnuts, just make sure it’s in moderation!

Study something you enjoy

You’d be surprised just how important picking a subject you want to study is! Your mental health is as important as anything else, so make sure you're studying something you really want to do.

Drink in moderation

Making memories and enjoying an active social life during university is just as important as your studies.

Although you will be inundated with offers for nights out and social events, you need to moderate your late-night activities in order to make the most of your university experience. Anything in life is fine as long as it is in moderation.

Get involved

The majority of universities have plenty of sports clubs and societies on offer from hockey, football and rugby to rowing and dance. Joining a club or society is the perfect way to meet like-minded people and to enhance your university social life.

Most universities play in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) League, which is a multi-sport competition for universities; this includes everything from football to cricket to rugby to swimming to badminton, everything you need to get involved and to stay healthy!
