In partnership with academic staff, experts by experience and clinical practice educators you will be encouraged to develop your theoretical knowledge and practical skills through a mix of with time spent in the university setting and time spent in practice learning environments. State of the art simulation facilities are utilised throughout the programme to provide you with opportunities to put theory into practice in a safe and supportive environment.
Studying alongside other student health professionals within the School of Nursing and Allied Health, you will develop vital communication, interprofessional and leadership skills to enrich your practice and enhance client care. You will be nurtured to show initiative, demonstrate critical thinking and work flexibly in preparation for the variety of challenges that you will encounter as a Speech and Language Therapist.
The newly designed curriculum will ensure that by the end of your course you will be ready for the next step in your career and the many opportunities that await you. The evolving role of the Speech and Language Therapists offers you many different and flexible employment options. This may include career pathways within the NHS, education or private, independent and voluntary sectors. Our course will also result in you being able to register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists\*.
