Become part of the vibrant film community at Keele. Through our Film Studies degree you will become a creative individual with the ability to critically evaluate, synthesise and produce content effectively through various methods. You will study closely with the core academic team, benefitting from their wealth of industry experience in filmmaking, screenwriting, and criticism. You will also have opportunities to draw from the professional expertise of industry partners and gain practical experience on industry placements. In practical modules you will use film equipment and facilities on campus, helping you to gain real world experience using industry standard equipment.
During your studies at Keele you will explore a curriculum looking at the cultural, political and economic dimensions of film in a global context. The learning covers a range of aesthetic and technological resources used by filmmakers both historically, and in the contemporary film and television industries. This carefully considered curriculum balances theoretical and practical learning whilst presenting opportunities to gain invaluable industry experience on placements. Film Studies at Keele will prepare you for careers in the creative industries or other related fields.
Film students have dedicated teaching spaces and access to our bespoke editing suites, as well as opportunities to work in our photographic and sound design studios. The facilities allow you to implement and challenge your practical skills alongside your theoretical learning. You can loan filmmaking equipment to develop your skills and enhance your employability prospects.
