This joint honours mathematics and philosophy degree offers a wide range of philosophy modules - from pre- Socrates to the present day - and has teaching strengths in philosophy of mind, philosophy of science and the history of philosophy. The mathematics element gives students a foundation in many branches of mathematics, including algebra, analysis, probability and geometry.

The Access to Higher Education Diploma must be 60 credits in total. Access to Maths/Maths & Computing Diploma (or similar subject). Your syllabus must contain pure mathematics. Additionally, you may be asked to obtain either 3 in any two STEP papers or a Distinction in AEA Mathematics, if you do not have A-level equivalent study in Mathematics and/or Further Mathematics.

Scottish Advanced Higher

Must include grade A in Advanced Higher Mathematics. Must be combined with three Scottish Highers. We do not count the Higher and Advanced Higher in the same subject. Must include grade A in Advanced Higher Mathematics.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme

36 points overall or an aggregate score of 18 from three Higher Levels. Must include grade 6 in Higher Level Mathematics: Analysis & Approaches. The total point score of 36 includes TOK/EE.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal

Must include grade D3 in Mathematics and grade D3 Further Mathematics (full course). Please note that Global Perspectives is not accepted by King’s as one of your Pre-U Principal subjects. Combinations of Pre-U principal subjects and other qualifications (such as A-levels) will be considered. We will only accept the one year Short Course in Further Mathematics if you additionally achieve a 3 in any STEP paper or a Merit in AEA Mathematics.
