This programme provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required within the sports events sector. The course is delivered through the Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Sport and includes a Sports Events Management pathway.
The programme is designed to prepare learners for employment in the planning, coordination and delivery of sports events, including mass participation events, community sports events and commercial sporting activities. Learning is applied and contextualised through real-world scenarios that reflect industry practice.
Students will develop a broad understanding of the sports industry alongside the specific requirements of event delivery, including project planning, participant experience, safety considerations and operational coordination. The programme is both practical and academic, supporting learners to develop professional behaviours and critical thinking skills.
The programme has been developed with employer insight ensuring the curriculum reflects industry expectations for large-scale event delivery. Learners will engage with employer-informed activities, case studies and, where possible, work-based opportunities to enhance employability.
Successful candidates may progress to Level 5 Higher National study or into employment within the sport and events sector in roles such as event assistant, operations support or sport development officer.
