Our BSc (Hons) Biology degree gives you a strong grounding in the biological sciences, with the flexibility to shape your studies around your interests and career goals. You’ll begin by building core knowledge in areas such as molecular biology, microbiology, genetics, ecology, animal behaviour and conservation, before exploring specialist topics that match your ambitions.
As you progress, you can tailor your learning through areas like vertebrate evolution, bioinformatics, bioengineering, forensic molecular biology, infectious disease, and landscape or community ecology. Throughout the course, you’ll develop essential laboratory and field skills using advanced equipment in our specialist facilities, gaining practical experience that prepares you for a wide range of scientific careers.
You can also broaden your horizons with an optional year studying overseas or completing a placement with a business or non‑governmental organisation, giving you valuable experience before returning to complete your final year.
This course is also available with a foundation year.
