You will explore a range of geographical topics, from focusing on the Earth's dynamic systems, natural hazards and the ongoing challenge of climate change, to cultural, economic, political and social forces shaping contemporary cities. You will gain essential skills and training in GIS and data analysis, combined with practical experience through fieldwork and laboratory research, equipping you with the skills to address global challenges and pursue careers in geography and environmental management.
While our flagship Dalton building provides outstanding teaching and research facilities, some of the best learning happens beyond the classroom. Manchester is the ultimate “city laboratory”, offering the opportunity to explore real-world issues through local fieldwork and day trips across the North West. You’ll have the opportunity to take part in an overseas field trip, further developing your practical skills and global perspective.
Our degree also enhances your future employability through opportunities such as the chance to spend an additional year studying abroad or working on a placement. Carbon Literacy training is embedded into our curriculum, equipping you with in-demand skills and knowledge to tackle global challenges.
This course is also available with a foundation year.
