Health and Social Care Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) - BA (Hons)

There is a growing emphasis on partnership working across the health and social care sector, including social services, charities, the NHS, local government and social enterprises. This course is designed to prepare you to work confidently across these settings, equipping you with the knowledge and skills employers value while enabling you to make a positive difference to individuals, families and communities.

You will explore core theories that underpin health and social care and examine how these are applied in practice. This includes understanding the experiences of service users, contributing to service development, and considering how care and support are delivered across the life course. Key topics include social and economic inequalities, mental health, health and social care in relation to different groups, and strengths-based approaches to improving outcomes.

Work-integrated learning through placement opportunities is a central feature of the course, providing valuable hands-on experience and enhancing employability. You will also explore global perspectives and engage with employer-led challenges addressing issues such as homelessness, substance misuse, poverty and social isolation.
