The Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Animal Management provides a strong, professionally focused introduction to the animal care and management sector. Designed to develop industry relevant knowledge, practical skills, and academic understanding, the qualification supports progression into employment or further study at Level 5 and beyond.
This one year programme (full time) offers a blend of scientific, practical, and managerial content, preparing learners for diverse roles across animal welfare, behaviour, conservation, zoological work, husbandry, and related scientific fields.
The Course consists of 120 credits at Level 4 and includes a combination of core and specialist units.
Learners will explore areas such as animal anatomy, physiology, nutrition, health, behaviour and welfare. Scientific and ecological principles, business environments, and project management, all of which are essential foundations for successful careers in the land based and animal sectors.
The course combines theory with hands-on learning. Students gain practical experience through:
\- Animal handling and husbandry
\- Health checks and welfare assessments
\- Habitat and environment evaluation
\- Research and project work
