This new Foundation Degree has been expressly developed in response to the increasing integration of aviation, tourism, travel, and destination management industries. Aviation acts as a gateway to tourism growth, while successful destinations rely on effective transport infrastructure and visitor mobility. Employers increasingly require graduates with a broad understanding of the visitor economy alongside operational, commercial, and customer-focused skills. A contemporary, industry-responsive curriculum will allow students to develop knowledge of aviation operations, tourism management, sustainability, customer experience, digital marketing, leadership, and business management. Throughout the degree students will happy the opportunity to work with some big-name regional businesses with previous collaborators including NGI, Utilita Arena, The National Trust, Newcastle International Airport, SecuriCare, Jet 2 and PsychoPath tours.
As a reflection of local, regional, and national economic priorities, the programme prepares students for careers across airports, airlines, tourism organisations, visitor attractions, destination management organisations, travel companies, and events businesses. Students who successfully complete the Foundation Degree also have the opportunity progress onto the one-year BA (Hons) Tourism and Aviation Management (Top-up) at Newcastle College University Centre.
