### Key features
You'll explore a range of global histories and develop your skills as a historian through compulsory modules. While optional modules allow you to tailor your degree to your interests.
Choose from a range of modules covering the Roman World and Hellenistic Empires, to fictional histories and slavery in the ancient, modern and early modern periods.
You’ll also have the opportunity to discover the societies and cultures of the past, explore the culture and literature of the Greek and Roman world, and study an ancient language.
On this degree you’ll have the opportunity to:
* Learn from experts in the ancient world and history, from the culture and literature of Ancient Greece to the history of Medieval Japan
* Access world-class facilities, including the University’s Special Collections and Archives department and Great North Museum

offer-distinction: 30.0, offer-merit: 15.0
30 Level 3 credits at Distinction and 15 at Merit. 15 Level 3 credits should be history or History-related. If unable to take history at Level 3 a Social Science subject should be taken instead and evidence of reading around the subject will be required.
Extended Project
If you offer a Level 3 Extended Project Qualification, we will vary our offer to recognise this. The EPQ can be in any topic.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
A minimum of 34 points including History at Higher Level grade 6. If not studying a full IB Diploma - Grades 6, 6, 5 at Higher Level including History at grade 6 and completion of a national high school diploma.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)
Applicants will be considered on an individual basis.
Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017)
Normally H1H1H2H2H3 at Higher Level, to include Grade H2 History. All applications considered on an individual basis.
T Level
This course accepts T Levels on a case by case basis.
