The Foundation Year at pointblank is designed as a strong starting point for students progressing to one of our undergraduate degrees. It offers a structured pathway that builds your confidence, helps you explore your interests and prepares you with the academic and creative skills needed to succeed.

 

This intensive course allows you to explore different areas of the music industry while benefiting from academic support sessions, wellbeing resources and guidance on equipment, study skills and professional development. With commitment and focused effort, you will be well prepared to continue into the degree that best aligns with your long-term career ambitions.

 

Throughout the year you will develop core abilities in research, critical thinking, creativity and practical musicianship, giving you a solid foundation for degree level study. The curriculum is designed to help you gain confidence in your abilities, broaden your understanding of the industry and make informed choices about your creative and professional direction.

 

The Foundation Year is delivered with small class sizes (max 16 students), tailored support and a hands-on teaching philosophy that reflects our wider educational approach.
