Entry Requirements

A level

A*AA including Mathematics, Physics, and one other subject. We can consider applicants without Physics if they have studied Further Mathematics; applications will be considered on a case by case basis. Please contact us to discuss your academic background. As practical skills are a crucial part of science education, you are required to pass the practical element of any Science A-Level taken. Where applicants are applying for science and related degrees, this will likely be made explicit in the offers received. If you do not have the required grades or subjects, you may want to consider our integrated foundation year. Please check for specific GCSE/IGCSE subject entry requirements. Typical Contextual Offer: AAA in Mathematics, Physics, and one other subject. For further information and to check eligibility, visit our contextual admissions page. Please check for specific GCSE/IGCSE subject entry requirements.

Access to HE Diploma

Given that it is not possible to meet our published offer conditions within an Access course, we would not recommend an Access course as the best way of preparing for our courses. However, we may consider applications from exceptional Access students on a case by case basis. Each application is considered individually. Applicants should contact the Admissions Office to discuss their particular circumstances. As a guide, we typically require a QAA-recognised Access to HE Diploma (a minimum of 60 credits overall and at least 45 at Level 3) in an engineering related subject. 45 graded credits must be awarded at Level 3 at Distinction including 15 credits in Mathematics and 15 credits in Physics. We also require A Level Mathematics at Grade A*.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

Applicants must demonstrate a broad general education. Typically this is five GCSEs/IGCSEs, including acceptable levels of literacy and numeracy - equivalent to at least Grade C/4 in GCSE/IGCSE English Language and Mathematics. GCSE/IGCSE English Literature will not be accepted in lieu of GCSE/IGCSE English Language.
