OVERVIEW\
Performance in sport is as much about the mind as the body. Our Psychology with Sport and Exercise BSc (Hons) degree explores the mental aspects of athletic success, from motivation and focus to stress management and performance. The course prepares you for careers in sport psychology, coaching and athletic development, helping athletes and teams reach their potential.
You will explore core psychological perspectives to understand the human mind and behaviour, while developing reflective, research and experimental skills. Alongside classroom theory and its application to contemporary challenges, you will gain practical experience in our state-of-the-art psychology lab.
Our practitioner academics and regional partners will help prepare you for a range of careers or further study on an applied postgraduate course. Practical work-based learning and additional mental health training will also help you apply your knowledge and develop professional skills.
You will explore questions such as whether a win-at-all-costs mentality leads to success, or whether putting the person before the athlete gets better results. Three bespoke modules will explore the application of psychology to sport and exercise, including enhancing performance, improving wellbeing and supporting the wider sport and exercise community.
