The Mathematics/Statistics (faster route) offers focused, high achieving candidates joining us straight from school the option to complete the Honours Degree in 3 years or the MSci degree in 4 years.

Programme structure

Year 1

Students on the Mathematics/Statistics (faster route) do not undertake Year 1.

Year 2

Students taking the faster route will come straight into level 2. Students will take 120 credits at level 2.

Year 3

Students must take 60 credits of core courses in Statistics and choose 60 credits from 120 available in Mathematics.

Year 4

Students will take 60 credits of courses in Mathematics and 60 credits in Statistics.

Career prospects

Our graduates have statistical, computational, numerate and presentational skills which are applicable in many fields such as medicine, education, transport, agriculture, engineering and economics. They are employed in a variety of posts such as quality engineer, actuary, accountant, credit risk analyst, clinical statistician, statistician, statistical programmer, teacher and operations researcher. Others go on to undertake postgraduate degrees.
