<strong>Why a Foundation Year?</strong><br/>An integrated foundation year is an additional introductory year at the start of your degree. It’s ideal if you don’t meet the entry requirements or are returning to education. Alongside an introduction to your subject, you’ll develop key study, communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills to build confidence and prepare you for degree-level study.<br/><br/><strong>Why Computer Games Design?</strong><br/>Our Computer Games Design degree prepares you for a career in game creation across console, desktop and mobile, from 3D modelling and level design to UX, animation and technical design.<br/><br/>You’ll build creative and technical skills using industry-standard tools such as Unreal Engine, Unity and Adobe Creative Cloud. Through rapid prototyping, agile workflows and playtesting, you’ll take ideas from concept to fully playable games in collaborative teams.<br/><br/>Work alongside programmers and artists on projects from indie titles to large-scale game experiences, using cutting-edge facilities including VR, motion capture, HoloLens, photogrammetry and Sony and Nintendo development kits.<br/><br/>Teaching combines lectures, workshops and seminars to build confidence and industry readiness. In your second year, the Professional Awareness module strengthens your CV, portfolio and interview skills, with opportunities for contractor-style work. You may also take a placement year with partners such as Unity, Dyson, Meta, Rebellion, Sumo Digital and Flix Interactive.
