Artificial Intelligence is one of the most important and cutting-edge sub-fields in Computer Science. It’s transforming industries from technology, robotics and finance to healthcare, creative and third sectors.
Shaped by our world-leading research in data science, machine learning, robotics and AI+, on this programme you’ll learn the key facts, principles, and concepts of computer science, while developing specialist expertise in AI theories, methods, and applications. You’ll develop knowledge of modern languages, tools and practices used in the specification, design, implementation and evaluation of both traditional and AI related computer-based systems.
You’ll also explore the professional, ethical and legal considerations that shape the responsible use of technology. Working individually and as part of a development team, you’ll have the opportunity to design and construct both traditional and AI related computer systems, while refining transferable skills such as information retrieval, project management, and independent learning.
Our goal is to develop highly-employable, innovative and responsible graduates. You’ll graduate with a wide range of career opportunities and will be equipped with the skills, knowledge and experience to make real-world, positive impact.
This programme is available with either a Year in China or a Year Abroad. The Year in China offers undergraduate students the opportunity to spend one year at our joint venture, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). You can choose either the China Studies Track, where you will take courses from the China Studies Degree, the Creative Track, or the Entrepreneurship Track . XJTLU is a fully English-speaking university, located in Suzhou. The Year Abroad offers students the opportunity to spend a full academic year studying at one of our partner universities around the world, following a mixture of culture and/or discipline-related modules. If you wish to study this programme with a Year in China or a Year Abroad you will have the opportunity to apply after you arrive at Liverpool.

A level
A level Mathematics or Computer Science is required. For applicants studying A levels with English exam boards: Where a science has been taken at A level (Chemistry, Biology, Geology or Physics), a pass in the Science practical of each subject will be required. Some Level 3 qualifications are only acceptable alongside 2 or 3 A levels, please contact us for details.
T Level
Science or ICT T Level alongside A Level Mathematics or Computer Science only. Typical Offer would be Distinction overall, grade A in the Core Component and Merit in the Occupational Specialism Component.

GCSE Mathematics and English at grade 4/C required. Applicants with equivalent qualifications or who do not meet these GCSE requirements will be considered on an individual basis according to their circumstances.
Scottish Advanced Higher
Advanced Higher Mathematics or Computer Science is required.
Extended Project
Applicants who offer the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and 3 A levels and meet our offer criteria will be made the standard offer, plus an alternative offer. This will be at one A Level grade lower plus a grade A in the EPQ, for example the offer would be AAB or ABB plus A in the EPQ.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
34 points overall with no score less than 4 and including 5 in Higher Level Mathematics or Computer Science, or pass the IB Diploma with 6,6,5 in three Higher Level subjects (including Higher Level Mathematics or Computer Science)
WJEC Level 3 Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017)
including H1 in Mathematics or Computer Science. We also require a minimum of H6 in Higher English or O3 in Ordinary English.
