International Relations and Hispanic Studies Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) - BA (Hons)

Our 50:50 programmes offer you the opportunity to combine the study of International Relations with either a modern foreign language or Law. Are you keen to learn more about the intersections between international politics and international law? Or are you looking to expand your global focus by combining International Relations with a modern foreign language, such as French, Spanish or Chinese? Either way, we have you covered. You’ll learn about the theory and practice of International Relations and have the chance to specialise in aspects of international politics, while also gaining expertise in another subject of your choice.

Hispanic Studies (50% of your degree) combines advanced linguistic development with in-depth cultural study. You will take Spanish at beginners or advanced level, working towards becoming proficient, alongside cultural modules each semester, in addition to modules in your partner subject. In year two, all students can study Catalan or Portuguese. In later years, you continue with Spanish language modules and specialist options spanning Iberian and Latin American literature, cinema and culture from medieval to modern periods. A Year Abroad, which may be split between two regions, consolidates fluency and enhances your international career prospects.

Most Combined Degrees allow you to adapt the weighting of each by 25% after the first year, helping you to keep your options open. Please note, however, students studying either a Business or Economics pathway in combination with another subject cannot increase from 25% to 50% or from 50% to 75% and it is not possible to transfer from a 50% to 75% Law.
