Law with Criminology Bachelor of Law (with Honours) - LLB (Hons)

Law shapes our relationships with the state and with each other. On a degree with a 75% Law component, three‑quarters of your time is spent studying legal modules exploring the rules that govern society and their wider impact. The remaining quarter is devoted to another humanities or social‑science subject. You will study the core foundations of English law and choose optional modules in your final year to tailor your degree. Successful completion leads to an LLB (Hons), preparing you for the next stage of professional training required to qualify as a lawyer in England and Wales.

Studying Criminology as 25% of your degree offers valuable insights into the key issues, debates and approaches that shape the field today. Our research-led programme develops your critical and creative thinking, supporting a range of career paths and further study. You’ll engage with core topics such as the history of crime and punishment, contemporary criminological theory, and the role of key criminal justice institutions. You can also choose from optional modules that reflect the department’s diverse research expertise, covering topics such as sentencing, institutional deaths, cyber crime, gender-based violence, and corporate crime.

This programme is available with either a Year in China or a Year Abroad. The Year in China offers undergraduate students the opportunity to spend one year at our joint venture, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). You can choose either the China Studies Track, where you will take courses from the China Studies Degree, the Creative Track, or the Entrepreneurship Track . XJTLU is a fully English-speaking university, located in Suzhou. The Year Abroad offers students the opportunity to spend a full academic year studying at one of our partner universities around the world, following a mixture of culture and/or discipline-related modules. If you wish to study this programme with a Year in China or a Year Abroad you will have the opportunity to apply after you arrive at Liverpool. 

Combined Degrees

Most Combined Degrees allow you to adapt the weighting of each by 25% after the first year, helping you to keep your options open. Please note, however, students studying either a Business or Economics pathway in combination with another subject cannot increase from 25% to 50% or from 50% to 75% and it is not possible to transfer from a 50% to 75% Law. The qualifying law degree is recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) for the purposes of satisfying the academic stage of training.
