This programme will give you a solid grounding in all aspects of chemistry combined with an introduction to pharmacology, making it ideal for a wide range of career pathways, or further postgraduate training after your degree. For example, you may wish to become a teacher or take a specialised master’s programme before going on to a research career. All our programmes have a common chemistry core which provides a good measure of flexibility and choice for you during the first two years. This programme shares this common chemistry core but you devote around 25% of your time to studying pharmacology and biomedical sciences. In Year Three, you only take organic and practical sections of the BSc Chemistry (F100) programme and take designated pharmacology modules that aim to help you apply your knowledge of chemistry and pharmacology to pharmaceutical problems, with particular reference to drug design and development.\
This programme is accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry for fully meeting the academic criteria for Chartered Chemist (CChem).\
This programme is available with either a Year in China or a Year Abroad. The Year in China offers undergraduate students the opportunity to spend one year at our joint venture, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). You can choose either the China Studies Track, where you will take courses from the China Studies Degree, the Creative Track, or the Entrepreneurship Track . XJTLU is a fully English-speaking university, located in Suzhou. The Year Abroad offers students the opportunity to spend a full academic year studying at one of our partner universities around the world, following a mixture of culture and/or discipline-related modules. If you wish to study this programme with a Year in China or a Year Abroad you will have the opportunity to apply after you arrive at Liverpool.

ABB including Chemistry and a second science, or AAB including Chemistry at grade A if no second science. Accepted science subjects: Applied ICT Biology (and Human Biology) Computer Science Economics Electronics Environmental Science Further Mathematics Geography Geology ICT Life and Health Sciences Psychology Physics Statistics. For applicants studying A levels with English exam boards: Where a science has been taken at A level (Chemistry, Biology, Geology or Physics), a pass in the Science practical of each subject will be required. Extended Project
Applicants who offer the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and 3 A levels and meet our offer criteria will be made the standard offer, plus an alternative offer. This will be at one A Level grade lower plus a grade A in the EPQ, for example the offer would be ABB or BBB plus A in the EPQ, including Chemistry and a second science.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
32 points overall with no score less than 4 and including 5 in HL Chemistry and 5 in one other HL science subject (or 6 in HL Chemistry if no other science being taken), or pass the IB Diploma with 6,5,5 in 3 Higher Level subjects, including 5 in HL Chemistry and 5 in one other HL science subject (or 6 in HL Chemistry if no other science being taken).
WJEC Level 3 Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales

D*DD in BTEC National Extended Diploma. Applicants will be invited to take an assessment. Applicants must be completing the BTEC National Extended Diploma in Applied Science pathway and be studying the following optional modules: Applications of Inorganic Chemistry, Applications of Organic Chemistry, Practical Chemical Analysis.
