Stories shape how we see the world. As an actor, you have the power to bring those stories to life across stage, screen and emerging digital platforms.
Today's performers need more than traditional acting skills. They need the confidence to work across theatre, film, television and digital media. Designed to reflect the realities of the modern industry, this course combines established actor training with contemporary performance techniques and professional development.
You'll build core skills in acting, voice, movement and improvisation before exploring performance for both stage and screen. As your training develops, you'll take part in rehearsals, productions, filmed work, devised performance projects and creative collaborations that help you grow as a versatile performer.
Alongside your practical training, you'll develop an understanding of the professional industry through areas such as self-taping, screen acting, broadcast voice work and content creation. This helps you build the skills, confidence and adaptability needed in an evolving performance landscape.
At the University of Northampton, learning is rooted in professional practice. Through links with the Royal & Derngate Theatre, guest workshops and opportunities to engage with IDEK Theatre Company, you'll gain valuable insight into the performing arts industry while developing your own creative voice.
This practical degree is designed to help you learn by doing. Through performance, collaboration and creative exploration, you'll develop the professionalism, resilience and communication skills valued across the creative industries.
By the time you graduate, you'll have a portfolio of experience and a broad set of performance skills that can help prepare you for opportunities in theatre, film, television, digital content creation and further professional development within the performing arts.
