Forensic Applications in Psychology explores the complex relationship between psychology, crime and the justice system, helping you understand how psychological science is applied in forensic settings.

This degree combines core psychological knowledge with specialist forensic applications, giving you the opportunity to investigate criminal behaviour from multiple perspectives. You'll explore topics such as pathways into crime, addiction, crime scene behaviour, criminal profiling, forensic risk assessment, intervention strategies and rehabilitation, while building a strong understanding of human behaviour.

Rather than simply studying theories, you'll learn how psychologists answer real-world questions through scientific research. Throughout the course, you'll develop practical research skills and gain hands-on experience investigating forensic topics, allowing you to apply psychological principles to contemporary issues within criminal justice and forensic practice.

The course provides a strong foundation across developmental, cognitive, social and biological psychology, ensuring you graduate with both specialist forensic knowledge and a broad understanding of psychological science. You'll also have the flexibility to tailor your learning through a range of optional modules and specialist areas.

Accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), the degree provides the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist. Graduates achieving a 2:2 or above are eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC), providing a strong foundation for postgraduate study and careers in forensic psychology, criminal justice, research and a range of psychology-related professions.
