Great journalism informs, challenges and connects people. Whether reporting on major events, uncovering important stories or creating content that reaches audiences across multiple platforms, journalists play a vital role in helping us understand the world around us.

At Northampton, you'll learn how to find, research, create and share stories across digital, social, print, radio and television platforms. From your first year, you'll develop the practical skills professional journalists use every day, including interviewing, researching, news writing, storytelling, editing and multimedia content production.

You'll work in our dedicated newsroom, television, podcast and radio studios while gaining experience with the technologies and workflows used throughout today's media industry. Alongside practical reporting and producer skills, you'll explore media law, journalism ethics, public affairs and the role journalism plays in holding power to account.

A key strength of the course is its strong industry focus. Accredited by the Broadcast Journalism Training Council, the course is designed to reflect professional standards and employer expectations and our strong links to industry create opportunities to get involved with real-world reporting.

Throughout the course, you'll produce content for multiple platforms, reflecting the changing nature of modern journalism and communication roles where reporters are expected to work confidently across text, audio, video and digital media both as reporters and producers.

By graduation, you'll have developed the practical skills, professional understanding and portfolio needed to pursue careers in journalism, broadcasting, digital media, public relations, content creation and the wider communications industry.
