Multimedia Sports Journalism Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) - BA (Hons)

Sport generates some of the world's biggest stories. From major international tournaments and elite professional competitions to grassroots participation and emerging esports, audiences increasingly consume sports content across multiple platforms and formats.

At Northampton, you'll learn how to find, produce and share those stories through professional sports journalism. Combining reporting, broadcasting and digital media skills, this course prepares you to work confidently across print, online, radio, television and social media platforms.

You'll develop practical skills in news gathering, interviewing, reporting, video and audio production, commentary and multimedia storytelling. You'll also explore media law, ethics, regulation and the wider sports industry to understand the context in which sports journalism operates.

A key strength of the course is its emphasis on real-world experience. You'll attend press conferences, cover live sporting events and work with sports organisations and media partners, developing practical experience while building professional networks and industry confidence.

Accredited by the Broadcast Journalism Training Council, the course is designed in partnership with industry expectations and reflects the skills employers are seeking. You'll learn from experienced journalists and gain access to professional facilities, helping you create a portfolio that showcases your abilities to future employers.

You'll also explore the future of sports media, including areas such as esports, data journalism and emerging storytelling technologies, ensuring your skills remain relevant in a rapidly evolving industry.

By graduation, you'll have developed the practical, technical and professional skills needed for careers in journalism, broadcasting, club media, content creation, communications and the wider sports industry.
