Studying Architectural Environment Engineering gives you the skills and knowledge to directly reduce the carbon footprint of the built environment. You will develop the expertise to shape the design of smart and sustainable buildings. You'll learn about renewable energy generation, smart controls, thermal comfort (heating, cooling and ventilation), the acoustics of spaces and lighting design.
Our dedicated facilities include fluid and thermodynamics labs, renewable energy research workshops and collaborative engineering studios that mirror professional practice and promote peer learning. You’ll also have access to the [Creative Energy Homes](https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/creative-energy-homes/) ([https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/creative-energy-homes](https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/creative-energy-homes/)), a real-world laboratory for testing energy efficient building technologies.
This course also prepares you for Chartered Engineer status once you complete the necessary training and experience.
