Are you curious about what drives human behaviour, how ethical business practices are shaped, or how social justice influences economic policy? Our BA Philosophy, Politics and Economics degree invites you to tackle big questions like these.
The course combines three powerful disciplines to provide you with a deeper understanding of the forces shaping our world. Through philosophy, you’ll sharpen your skills in reasoning, logic and ethical analysis. In politics, you’ll explore political theory, global governance and the structures that underpin democracy. Economics will equip you with the tools to interpret markets, policies and decision-making, from microeconomic choices to macroeconomic trends.
Flexibility is at the heart of our course. You’ll tailor your studies with optional modules that match your career ambitions – whether you’re interested in social philosophy, parliamentary studies or behavioural economics. You can specialise in the areas that excite you most, while building a broad intellectual foundation that employers value.
You will be part of a vibrant student community. Join societies such as the Politics Society, Debate Society and [United Nations Society](https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/studywithus/ugstudy/articles/explore-more-articles/social-sciences/the-united-nations-society-at-the-university-of-nottingham.html "United Nations Society") to make friends, attend trips and build impressive skills for your CV. You’ll also have automatic membership to the student-led [Nottingham Economics and Finance Society](https://www.uonnefs.com/home "Nottingham Economics and Finance Society homepage") (NEFS). They offer networking opportunities, CV advice and additional training through their divisions.
Graduates in philosophy, politics and economics are highly sought after across various sectors. From investment banking and accountancy to government departments and NGOs, the skills you’ll gain open doors to diverse opportunities. Our alumni have gone on to shape global futures at organisations including Bank of America, Barclays, Bloomberg, Deloitte, Oxfam and the World Bank.
Beyond a degree, this course equips you to analyse society, interrogate ideas and make an impact. If you’re ready to engage with the world’s most pressing issues and develop the skills to lead in any field, philosophy, politics and economics is your pathway.
