Data Science graduates are in growing demand across a wide range of sectors, including health, finance, business, public services, maritime, marine and environmental science. This degree provides graduates with industry-relevant knowledge and practical skills in data science. You will gain competence across a broad range of key areas, including programming, data curation and processing, data privacy and ethics, data management, visualisation, analytics, and modelling.<br/><br/>• This course contains modules in key areas relevant to data science, including statistics, software engineering and development, artificial intelligence, machine learning, operational research, big data and parallel computing.<br/>• Stage 1 will provide the foundations in data science, software engineering and mathematics for later stages of the programme.<br/>• Enjoy new facilities – state-of-the-art lecture theatres, computer laboratories, study and social spaces – in our £63 million teaching and research building that opened in 2023.<br/>• Benefit from being part of a close-knit, collaborative and supportive community, with direct support from friendly lecturers, ensuring a personalised learning experience.<br/>• An optional but recommended paid placement year allows you to learn within a professional context and primes you for the career you want.<br/>• The final year contains applied modules in which you will work with, study and analyse data in industry-relevant applications.<br/>• In the final year you will carry out an in-depth data science study, supervised by an expert in that field.
