Landscape Architecture BA (Hons)

<strong>Landscape architecture is the design, planning and management of spaces for both nature and people. This course aims to train landscape architects who understand planning and how design proposals affect the environment. If you enjoy biology, geography, art, politics, economics or history you will appreciate the scope and challenge of this course which has two optional specialisms in planning or ecology.</strong><br/><br/>This course is under review for 2026 entry. Please contact us for further information.<br/><br/>You’ll study a wide range of landscape theories and creative techniques, working at scales covering the smallest garden, to large-scale urban developments and rewilded country estates, while getting to grips with the social aspects of design.<br/><br/>You’ll learn about how your design impacts local residents and why it matters whose voices are heard in the consultation process.<br/><br/>You will be supported by our world-renowned researchers and teachers as you develop to become a skilled designer, with a thorough understanding of urban design theory, planning and practice.<br/><br/>If you enjoy subjects like geography, politics and history and want to learn about the wider context in which your design takes place, this could be the course for you.<br/><br/>At the end of your third year, you can choose whether to continue to train as a professional landscape architect, or to apply your new skills in other directions.<br/><br/>Graduates of this course wishing to pursue Chartership must complete an independent year in practice, followed by a masters in Professional Landscape Architecture.<br/><br/><strong>Accreditation allows graduates to pursue their professional qualification in landscape architecture and become a licentiate Member of the Landscape Institute, ready to start their Pathway to Chartership and become a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI).</strong><br/><br/><strong>Why study this course?</strong><br/>• Tailored interests: Whether your interests lie in spatial data or inclusive design, we have experts who can support your professional ambitions.<br/><br/><br/><br/>• Global community: On graduation you’ll join our global community of alumni who, at last count, are practising in over 70 countries worldwide.
