Modern Languages, Business and Management Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) - BA (Hons)

Modern Languages, Business and Management combines the study of language, culture and contemporary society with in-depth knowledge of business practice. You will graduate as a highly qualified linguist, with specialist communication, research, critical and evaluative skills that are highly sought after by employers.

On this degree you will spend half your time studying Modern Languages and the other half studying Business and Management.

Studying Modern Languages will enable you to gain expertise in either one or two languages. Choose Language 1 from: French, German, Italian or Spanish. Choose Language 2 (if applicable) from Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Portuguese or Spanish.

As well as studying the foundations of Business and Management, you will develop your linguistic and intercultural skills. You will normally spend your second or third year abroad, consolidating and enhancing your learning.

The Modern Languages side of the degree enables you to acquire in-depth knowledge of up to two languages, including an understanding of the cultural context, societal narratives and historical trajectories associated with them.

On the Business and Management side you can take many different pathways through your course including human resource management, accounting, finance, principles of organisational behaviour, production and operations management, industrial relations, corporate strategy, and auditing.

Your second or third year is normally spent abroad, either as a language assistant, or working or studying at one of our partner universities. This is an invaluable opportunity to immerse yourself in the linguistic and cultural contexts where your language/s of choice are spoken, enhance your language skills and employability, and build international connections.
